What dermal fillers are typically being used?
Each case is different based on the original lip shape and form, and the product will be chosen based on the desired look during initial free consultation. All of the filler that we offer are certified and FDA-approved, with hyaluronic acid as the main component. Injectable hyaluronic acid (HA) is a kind of non-permanent (temporary) dermal filler.
Hyaluronic acid is produced and found in our body. It attracts water, which allows the skin to become and look more hydrated. When a provider is injecting it in the lips it allows for expansion and definition as well as adding of volume.
FDA approved HA fillers include:
Juvéderm products: Juvéderm XC, VOLUMA, VOLBELLA, VOLLURE Restylane products: Restylane, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne and Belotero Balance
Does the procedure hurt?
Topical anaesthetic is applied before the procedure for about 20 minutes to ensure minimal to no pain.
What should I know after the procedure?
With the Russian technique some bruising and swelling is expected. Swelling will subside within 2 days after the procedure and bruising will become minimal within 7 days. It is not recommended to drink any alcohol the day before or after the procedure, go to sauna or steam room for the next 7-14 days after, tan for 7 days after or exercise for the next 24 hours. Drinking lots of water is recommended.
Is the result permanent?
The results are temporary, lasting 6 to 9 months or longer, depending on the product and your metabolism. After that period the body gradually and naturally absorbs the particles.
In case you don’t like the result it can be dissolved using the ferment and the lips will go back to natural shape. If you have prior filler in the lips that you would like to remove before filling them filled again, 2 weeks – 1 month waiting period is suggested between the treatments.
Lip Fillers Frequently Asked Questions
How does lip filler work?
Hyaluronic acid that is injected in the lips for lip augmentation (lip filler) not only directly adds volume to the lips but also pulls water and moisture, making lips look hydrated and plump.
Is the lip filler reversible?
Absolutely! Hyaluronic acid is not permanent and can be dissolved with a ferment in case of dissatisfaction or for other reasons. All of those options will be discussed during pre lip augmentation appointment.
Does lip augmentation hurt?
Multiple options are available for lip augmentation procedure, including topical numbing cream and a numbing shot. The goal is to make the lip enhancement procedure as comfortable as possible.
What is the Russian lip technique?
The process involves placing tiny droplets of botox filler, injected vertically into the lip, compared to lines of filler underneath the border. The Russian lip technique allows for lips to be voluminous and plump without the “ducky” appearance. It is beneficial since both the natural and glamorous looks can be achieved depending on the preference and not a lot of filler is needed to get amazing voluminous results.
For how long will the lip filler result last?
Longevity of Juvederm or other filler depends on your body’s metabolism and you following recommendations after treatment. In general, after lip enhancement and augmentation one can expect for filler to be visible for 6 – 8 months.
How long does the lip augmentation procedure take?
For lip augmentation, expect to be in office for around 45 minutes – 1 hour. This includes anesthetic time and a short consultation prior to procedure.
How long does the bruising last after lip augmentation?
After lip fillers, bruising will last for about 4-7 days, while swelling will go away in as little as next 3 days. Following after procedure recommendations is important for the proper and fast healing.
Can lip augmentation help me get the exact lip shape that I want?
Yes, as close to it as possible – although final result of lip augmentation depends on natural shape and whether you had filler before or not. Sometimes the best solution for a perfect shape is to dissolve previous filler, and only then add a new one.
